Mike Forrester:

Well, hello

Mike Forrester:

and welcome back my friend.

Mike Forrester:

Man, today, I am excited to

Mike Forrester:

share with you Tony Horton.

Mike Forrester:

Now, if you like me, new

Mike Forrester:

Tony as the P90X guru, man,

Mike Forrester:

he is so, so much more.

Mike Forrester:

Um, his journey to

Mike Forrester:

getting to P 90 X.

Mike Forrester:

And then after that,

Mike Forrester:

is absolutely amazing.

Mike Forrester:

It gives encouragement for,

Mike Forrester:

you know, persevering, to

Mike Forrester:

keeping yourself in the driver's

Mike Forrester:

seat and investing in us.

Mike Forrester:

We're our best investment.

Mike Forrester:

And I'm sure you're gonna

Mike Forrester:

see that out of Tony's

Mike Forrester:

story and how he's grown.

Mike Forrester:

So Tony, how are you

Mike Forrester:

doing today, my friend?

Tony Horton:

I am well,

Tony Horton:

Mike, my pleasure man.

Tony Horton:

Great being on with you today.

Mike Forrester:

Well,

Mike Forrester:

thank you for joining me.

Mike Forrester:

Um, Tony, I'll be honest, man,

Mike Forrester:

when I was doing P 90 X, wow, way,

Mike Forrester:

you know, in the heyday, I loved

Mike Forrester:

the workouts, except for one.

Mike Forrester:

Can you guess what it was?

Tony Horton:

Yoga.

Tony Horton:

It was a yoga or plyo.

Mike Forrester:

It

Mike Forrester:

absolutely was, man.

Mike Forrester:

Was it that like.

Tony Horton:

I know, I

Tony Horton:

know, hour and a half.

Tony Horton:

What's mad with you, Horton.

Tony Horton:

What are you up to?

Tony Horton:

What are you trying to do?

Tony Horton:

Kill us.

Mike Forrester:

But

Mike Forrester:

here's the crazy thing.

Mike Forrester:

Dude, that was the

Mike Forrester:

most vibrant workout.

Mike Forrester:

And it's like, I still have to bust

Mike Forrester:

it out every once in a while, Tony.

Mike Forrester:

And go, all right, man, here we go.

Mike Forrester:

Now my daughter, one of my

Mike Forrester:

daughters on the other hand, dude,

Mike Forrester:

she absolutely loves, I think

Mike Forrester:

it's like looking behind you in

Mike Forrester:

the car, something to do with the

Mike Forrester:

car, like you're turning around.

Mike Forrester:

Anyways.

Tony Horton:

Wow.

Mike Forrester:

So, yeah.

Tony Horton:

Well, it

Tony Horton:

was 2004, so I don't...

Mike Forrester:

Was

Mike Forrester:

it really back then?

Tony Horton:

Yeah, man.

Tony Horton:

That's, it's been that long it's

Tony Horton:

just tick tock, life goes on, you

Tony Horton:

know, I can't believe it's 2022.

Tony Horton:

I was a young whipper

Tony Horton:

snapper of 42 years old.

Tony Horton:

Not anymore.

Mike Forrester:

Dude.

Mike Forrester:

You're still looking like

Mike Forrester:

a young whipper snapper.

Mike Forrester:

Let's be honest.

Mike Forrester:

Come on, you look great.

Tony Horton:

Well, I'm not gonna

Tony Horton:

lie to you, I had a shoot today.

Tony Horton:

I had a shoot and I literally

Tony Horton:

came from the shoot to here.

Tony Horton:

So there is a little bit

Tony Horton:

of makeup still going

Tony Horton:

on, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Which is nice for a zoom

Tony Horton:

call with you, Mike.

Tony Horton:

I, it's working out good for me.

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Tony Horton:

Good time.

Mike Forrester:

It was actually

Mike Forrester:

for the zoom call, right?

Mike Forrester:

It just...

Tony Horton:

Yes, yes, I

Tony Horton:

had a whole team come in.

Tony Horton:

I had a team of sculptors come

Tony Horton:

in here and start chiseling

Tony Horton:

away to, to make this thing

Tony Horton:

look like something, you know?

Mike Forrester:

Oh buddy.

Mike Forrester:

No.

Mike Forrester:

Hey, so can we talk about

Mike Forrester:

where things are for you today

Mike Forrester:

on the business side of life?

Tony Horton:

You know what,

Tony Horton:

it's very cool that you ask

Tony Horton:

that question outta the box.

Tony Horton:

It's never that, you

Tony Horton:

know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

It's always sort of

Tony Horton:

the origin story.

Tony Horton:

I thought you were born in a van

Tony Horton:

down by the river, and then you

Tony Horton:

move your way up to ju- junior

Tony Horton:

high school where the kids were

Tony Horton:

beating the crap outta you.

Tony Horton:

And then, then you're you got

Tony Horton:

over your speech impediment.

Tony Horton:

So it's nice to

Tony Horton:

know where I am now.

Tony Horton:

You know, I'm I'm um, I left

Tony Horton:

Beach Body about four years ago.

Tony Horton:

They just, just, uh, the

Tony Horton:

relationship just kind of

Tony Horton:

went bad and, uh, but it

Tony Horton:

was a great 20 year run.

Tony Horton:

Without them, I wouldn't be

Tony Horton:

where I am, I mean, honestly.

Tony Horton:

So that's a good thing,

Tony Horton:

but you know, all good

Tony Horton:

things come to an end.

Tony Horton:

Uh, unfortunately it wasn't my

Tony Horton:

fault, but, uh, it is what it is.

Tony Horton:

But what happened was a lot

Tony Horton:

of doors opened up for me.

Tony Horton:

So I'm on Tonal now.

Tony Horton:

And if you don't know what Tonal

Tony Horton:

is, you can Google it tonal.com.

Tony Horton:

It's this amazing, futuristic,

Tony Horton:

incredible piece of equipment.

Tony Horton:

And I'm one of the many

Tony Horton:

trainers on the program.

Tony Horton:

And my pla, my programs are doing

Tony Horton:

quite well on there, which is nice.

Tony Horton:

Partly because I'm known and I

Tony Horton:

have a slightly different delivery

Tony Horton:

system than most trainers, which I

Tony Horton:

think is, is inviting, um, based on

Tony Horton:

my humor and, and my encouragement.

Tony Horton:

Whatever I want it, you know,

Tony Horton:

the same way I would talk to

Tony Horton:

a friend, you know, I do the

Tony Horton:

same thing on tonal and that's

Tony Horton:

been a great relationship.

Tony Horton:

Been with them for a couple years.

Tony Horton:

And about that same time

Tony Horton:

when I, I, I was sick

Tony Horton:

back in October 20- 2017.

Tony Horton:

And as I was coming outta my

Tony Horton:

illness, I was talking to some

Tony Horton:

folks to kind of create some

Tony Horton:

concoctions, protein powder,

Tony Horton:

other different things for

Tony Horton:

my gut health and whatnot.

Tony Horton:

And I, I met with these folks.

Tony Horton:

Now, the parent companies

Tony Horton:

called Golden Hippo and they're,

Tony Horton:

and they've manufactured

Tony Horton:

and made my, my supplement

Tony Horton:

line called Power Life.

Tony Horton:

And so they were here today,

Tony Horton:

that's, thus the makeup.

Tony Horton:

Uh, they were here today, shooting

Tony Horton:

various segments, for the protein

Tony Horton:

powder, for the Foundation

Tony Horton:

Four, for different things.

Tony Horton:

And that's just been a fun ride.

Tony Horton:

It's just a, they're just a

Tony Horton:

great, great product line.

Tony Horton:

I mean, I use 'em all day.

Tony Horton:

I mean, there are 1, 2,

Tony Horton:

4, 12 SKUs right now and a

Tony Horton:

couple more down the road.

Tony Horton:

So, uh, those two projects.

Tony Horton:

Plus my wife and I started

Tony Horton:

this little, this little

Tony Horton:

mom and pop shop routine

Tony Horton:

called, The Power of 4.

Tony Horton:

And, and so The Power of

Tony Horton:

4 is made up of exercise,

Tony Horton:

nutrition, supplementation,

Tony Horton:

and mindfulness, right?

Tony Horton:

So there's like, if you have

Tony Horton:

bought my book, there's 11 laws.

Tony Horton:

These are the four pillars,

Tony Horton:

and then there's gonna

Tony Horton:

be the 13 mega STEPS.

Tony Horton:

I don't know, I'm not

Tony Horton:

there yet on that one.

Tony Horton:

But these are the four things

Tony Horton:

that I kind of try to practice on

Tony Horton:

a regular basis that allow me to

Tony Horton:

work out five to six days a week,

Tony Horton:

sometimes seven, and be able to

Tony Horton:

sustain and maintain that as I

Tony Horton:

move into my, you know, I'm almost

Tony Horton:

in, I'm in my mid sixties here.

Tony Horton:

And so, um, yeah, and so, you

Tony Horton:

know, it, is, it, it, that that's

Tony Horton:

kind of where I'm hanging my hat.

Tony Horton:

I have a, I have a equipment

Tony Horton:

fitness line, a TH fitness

Tony Horton:

equipment line that has like med

Tony Horton:

balls and, and, and we call 'em

Tony Horton:

power stands or push up stands

Tony Horton:

and mats and different things.

Tony Horton:

Um, and then I have a skin and hair

Tony Horton:

care product line called TH Care.

Tony Horton:

TH Fitness, TH Care.

Tony Horton:

My initials T H.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, the TH Care and the TH

Tony Horton:

Fitness kind of run by themselves.

Tony Horton:

Um, you know, I mean, I do a

Tony Horton:

little something here and there.

Tony Horton:

It's those other three

Tony Horton:

that occupy most of my day.

Tony Horton:

Plus, I just finished a five

Tony Horton:

day event here at my home.

Tony Horton:

It's our seventh, and I think

Tony Horton:

our final one, called "Tony

Tony Horton:

Horton's Paragon Experience:

Tony Horton:

Discovering Your Best Self".

Tony Horton:

And so we had nine people from

Tony Horton:

Kuwait, Kuwait city, and then

Tony Horton:

Americans and Canadians all

Tony Horton:

mashed together at my home,

Tony Horton:

uh, for five days straight.

Tony Horton:

And it's just a, it's everything.

Tony Horton:

It's workouts and seminars

Tony Horton:

and tutorials and workshops.

Tony Horton:

And, and martial arts and

Tony Horton:

kickboxing and, and animal

Tony Horton:

flow and ninja and, you

Tony Horton:

know, and, and breath work.

Tony Horton:

It's just, uh, it covers the gamut.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, I'm still recovering

Tony Horton:

from that, you know, 24, 24

Tony Horton:

people, plus staff, plus caterers.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

The place look like a, you

Tony Horton:

know, like a Four Seasons,

Tony Horton:

people running around.

Tony Horton:

But it's very rewarding.

Tony Horton:

Not only for the people that come,

Tony Horton:

cause it really is a life changer.

Tony Horton:

You're just, you'e just immersed

Tony Horton:

in all this intel and information.

Tony Horton:

And then the final day, we show

Tony Horton:

people how to break it all down

Tony Horton:

and kind of prioritize what,

Tony Horton:

what kind of is the next step,

Tony Horton:

because they, you know, they,

Tony Horton:

they walk outta here like,

Tony Horton:

I have so much information.

Tony Horton:

What do I do?

Mike Forrester:

And a drink

Mike Forrester:

from a fire hose type deal?

Tony Horton:

And that's, that's

Tony Horton:

kinda where we are, yeah.

Tony Horton:

What's that, Mike?

Mike Forrester:

Kind of a drink

Mike Forrester:

from a fire hose type deal?

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Tony Horton:

All, all of us, including me.

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Tony Horton:

Just, uh, and catered.

Tony Horton:

Amazing, plant-based food.

Tony Horton:

Just, people just

Tony Horton:

came for the food.

Tony Horton:

It was so stunning

Tony Horton:

and it was great.

Tony Horton:

Great, great five days.

Mike Forrester:

That's awesome.

Mike Forrester:

Now, as far as today, on

Mike Forrester:

the personal side of life,

Mike Forrester:

what does that look like?

Mike Forrester:

I'm, you're working

Mike Forrester:

alongside of your wife.

Mike Forrester:

So, I mean, that's gotta be super

Mike Forrester:

cool cause you get to see her, you

Mike Forrester:

love, love being with her, right?

Tony Horton:

Yeah, she truly does.

Tony Horton:

Now, she keeps me from wandering

Tony Horton:

off into the woods, which I would

Tony Horton:

have a tendency to do on occasion.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Where is he?

Tony Horton:

He's over there.

Tony Horton:

Bring him back.

Tony Horton:

She's just my best friend.

Tony Horton:

She's just so smart.

Tony Horton:

She's funny.

Tony Horton:

You know, I mean, she's, she's

Tony Horton:

a good, she's a looker, too, but

Tony Horton:

beyond that, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I've dated some pretty girls

Tony Horton:

in the past, but never somebody

Tony Horton:

who just had my heart and

Tony Horton:

my soul, like my wife does.

Tony Horton:

And she just, you know, early

Tony Horton:

on, and I never sort of shared

Tony Horton:

that part of my life with any

Tony Horton:

person in my relationship.

Tony Horton:

I always thought it was

Tony Horton:

smart to keep that separate.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

You do your thing, and I'll

Tony Horton:

support you no matter what it is,

Tony Horton:

and I'll do my thing, but she's

Tony Horton:

just 10 times smarter than I am.

Tony Horton:

And she's got great ideas.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, um, early on

Tony Horton:

when we were first dating,

Tony Horton:

yeah, she wasn't involved.

Tony Horton:

And then after our marriage,

Tony Horton:

about six years ago, um, you

Tony Horton:

know, I would ask, I kind

Tony Horton:

of ask her a question, what

Tony Horton:

do you think about this?

Tony Horton:

And her answer was

Tony Horton:

always brilliant.

Tony Horton:

, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And so I said, Hey, you know, why

Tony Horton:

don't we do this thing together?

Tony Horton:

And she had a, you know, real

Tony Horton:

estate license and she was

Tony Horton:

gonna do that, sell real estate.

Tony Horton:

And, um, she's also a

Tony Horton:

great, a great cook.

Tony Horton:

Um, and so she created the,

Tony Horton:

uh, the whole nutrition guide

Tony Horton:

and the, and the recipe guide

Tony Horton:

for The Power of 4, and like,

Tony Horton:

oh my God, you are so skilled.

Tony Horton:

So, you know, on the personal

Tony Horton:

side of things, I just, you

Tony Horton:

know, I just wanna spend time

Tony Horton:

with her and I wanna start

Tony Horton:

traveling with her now that COVID

Tony Horton:

is, doing whatever it's doing.

Tony Horton:

I don't know what the heck it's

Tony Horton:

doing, but, um, you know, I'll

Tony Horton:

throw a mask on and see where

Tony Horton:

I can go without getting sick.

Tony Horton:

And, um, cause

Tony Horton:

summertime is coming.

Tony Horton:

So we, we plan on

Tony Horton:

traveling a little bit.

Tony Horton:

We've got a wedding up in Seattle.

Tony Horton:

I have family in Rhode

Tony Horton:

Island and then we have

Tony Horton:

a place in Jackson Hole.

Tony Horton:

So we're trying to kind

Tony Horton:

of bing, bing, bing, bing.

Tony Horton:

You know, do a little tour this

Tony Horton:

summer and just learning to relax

Tony Horton:

and, and work out with my friends,

Tony Horton:

man, and, and go for runs and

Tony Horton:

lay on the couch in the backyard

Tony Horton:

and, and play with my three dogs.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And cause we were burning the

Tony Horton:

candle at both ends right up

Tony Horton:

to the end of that Paragon

Tony Horton:

Experience, and the shoot today,

Tony Horton:

and I got a shoot tomorrow.

Tony Horton:

You know, so the beat goes on, but

Tony Horton:

I find little windows to, to laugh

Tony Horton:

and, and watch some good TV, you

Tony Horton:

know, and hang out with my gal.

Mike Forrester:

Take a breath

Mike Forrester:

in between everything to get

Mike Forrester:

ready for the next burst?

Tony Horton:

Exactly.

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

So with all

Mike Forrester:

of that stuff going on, how do

Mike Forrester:

you keep yourself energized?

Mike Forrester:

I mean, if you're not, like

Mike Forrester:

refilling yourself, you

Mike Forrester:

don't have anything to give.

Mike Forrester:

And you're given a whole

Mike Forrester:

lot in this process.

Mike Forrester:

Like, what does it look like as far

Mike Forrester:

as, you know, recharging yourself?

Tony Horton:

I follow

Tony Horton:

the rules, man.

Tony Horton:

The rules that I created many years

Tony Horton:

ago, you know, the first rules

Tony Horton:

were my book, The Big Picture:

Tony Horton:

The 11 laws That Will Change

Tony Horton:

Your Life, which changed my life.

Tony Horton:

You know, do your

Tony Horton:

best, forget the rest.

Tony Horton:

Find your purpose.

Tony Horton:

Have a plan.

Tony Horton:

Variety is the spice of life.

Tony Horton:

Consistency is, is, is reigns

Tony Horton:

supreme is and on and on and on.

Tony Horton:

These are just things that are

Tony Horton:

sort of naturally who I am now.

Tony Horton:

And I, I'm a plant

Tony Horton:

based food eater.

Tony Horton:

That keeps the inflammation

Tony Horton:

down and the energy up.

Tony Horton:

I don't drink alcohol

Tony Horton:

ever, ever anymore.

Tony Horton:

I never had a problem,

Tony Horton:

you know, thank God.

Tony Horton:

But I just, it just didn't

Tony Horton:

work into my lifestyle.

Tony Horton:

And I, you know, the few

Tony Horton:

times I did, I was a little

Tony Horton:

bit more louder and obnoxious

Tony Horton:

than I am as I am right now.

Tony Horton:

So I just sort of cut that out.

Tony Horton:

It didn't serve me.

Tony Horton:

Um, and then I get

Tony Horton:

some decent sleep, man.

Tony Horton:

I mean, I, I, you know, bamboo

Tony Horton:

sheets, great mattress, great

Tony Horton:

mattress pad, pitch black

Tony Horton:

in there, no TV, no phone,

Tony Horton:

no laptop in the bedroom.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Um, you know, it's just

Tony Horton:

kind of doing all these, you

Tony Horton:

know, you do some research.

Tony Horton:

You, you have trouble in some

Tony Horton:

area, you do some research, you

Tony Horton:

practice what that research is.

Tony Horton:

It works or it doesn't work.

Tony Horton:

If it does, do it.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I'm not, I, I don't fight, I

Tony Horton:

don't fight creating the quality

Tony Horton:

of my life tooth and nail.

Tony Horton:

I just say, okay, here's an expert.

Tony Horton:

You know, like my, my

Tony Horton:

recent book I read was

Tony Horton:

James Nester's book, Breath.

Tony Horton:

Okay, now I practice all the

Tony Horton:

breathing techniques out of

Tony Horton:

that book, because I didn't

Tony Horton:

know about 'em before, now I do.

Tony Horton:

Now I'm a better man for it.

Tony Horton:

And so, you know, if you're gonna

Tony Horton:

be kind of, if you got four or

Tony Horton:

five businesses going at once,

Tony Horton:

then you gotta allow the pendulum

Tony Horton:

to swing in both directions.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I mean, there's yin

Tony Horton:

and yong, right?

Tony Horton:

Yin and yong.

Tony Horton:

And too many people are

Tony Horton:

yong or we call it yang in

Tony Horton:

this country, but it's yong.

Tony Horton:

And, um, and then if you're living

Tony Horton:

over there the whole time, well

Tony Horton:

then, you know, you're gonna end

Tony Horton:

up like with Ramsey Hunt Syndrome,

Tony Horton:

like I did a few years back.

Tony Horton:

And so I just meditate every

Tony Horton:

day and, I pet my dog every day.

Tony Horton:

And I, I crank music every

Tony Horton:

day and I jump in the, in the

Tony Horton:

jacuzzi, uh, and the, and the

Tony Horton:

epsom salt bath as often as I can.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, and take

Tony Horton:

naps and all of it.

Tony Horton:

And I just, yeah, I just,

Tony Horton:

I listen to my body and my

Tony Horton:

brain and I do what it says.

Mike Forrester:

Very wise.

Mike Forrester:

You've, you've mentioned your book.

Mike Forrester:

Can you share how you

Mike Forrester:

got to rule number one?

Mike Forrester:

Like do your best, you know,

Mike Forrester:

like, can you, can you share

Mike Forrester:

how you got to that point?

Tony Horton:

Well, I used to be

Tony Horton:

extraordinarily judgemental about

Tony Horton:

who I was as I was progressing

Tony Horton:

through my life in the early days.

Tony Horton:

So I just assumed that I was

Tony Horton:

supposed to automatically

Tony Horton:

know how to do everything

Tony Horton:

well from the get go.

Tony Horton:

And that was rarely ever the case.

Tony Horton:

You know, and so if I wasn't

Tony Horton:

good at something, I quit,

Tony Horton:

you know, I just quit because,

Tony Horton:

oh, that wasn't good enough.

Tony Horton:

So I quit or if I, you know,

Tony Horton:

whatever, I was just, just,

Tony Horton:

I was in a constant state of

Tony Horton:

judgment and my expectations

Tony Horton:

were through the roof and they

Tony Horton:

shouldn't have been based on

Tony Horton:

the little, I knew about so many

Tony Horton:

different categories of my life.

Tony Horton:

And then I read a few books

Tony Horton:

and some of them are behind me

Tony Horton:

and I see you've got a few of

Tony Horton:

'em behind you as well, right?

Tony Horton:

You know, so, I think it

Tony Horton:

was Don Miguel Ruiz's

Tony Horton:

book, The Four Agreements.

Tony Horton:

And if you say that wrong,

Tony Horton:

it sounds like Dom DeLuise,

Tony Horton:

which is a different guy.

Tony Horton:

Who I used to work for a

Tony Horton:

long time ago, oddly enough.

Tony Horton:

And the first law in his

Tony Horton:

book is Do Your Best.

Tony Horton:

And as I read that chapter

Tony Horton:

and the book's 134 pages,

Tony Horton:

it's, it's really tiny.

Tony Horton:

It's, it's one of these back here.

Tony Horton:

That's a companion book,

Tony Horton:

but that's basically, that's

Tony Horton:

another one, Don Miguel Ruiz.

Tony Horton:

And Do Your Best was a lot about,

Tony Horton:

Hey, understanding that life

Tony Horton:

changes for myriad of reasons.

Tony Horton:

It could be weather, it could

Tony Horton:

be buyer rhythms, it could be

Tony Horton:

barometric pressure, it could be

Tony Horton:

stress, it could be what you ate

Tony Horton:

the night before, it could be the

Tony Horton:

things you're dealing with, it

Tony Horton:

could be any number of things.

Tony Horton:

And so there's really this

Tony Horton:

sort of, there's a lot of

Tony Horton:

unpredictable, exterior occurrences

Tony Horton:

that are affecting your body

Tony Horton:

and brain's ability to process

Tony Horton:

what it is that you need to do.

Tony Horton:

And so if you understand that,

Tony Horton:

well, then what do you, what do

Tony Horton:

you have in this moment based

Tony Horton:

on what your task is, whether

Tony Horton:

it's exercise or anything.

Tony Horton:

And so, you know, knowing that,

Tony Horton:

that your best changes from day

Tony Horton:

to day, I don't know anybody who

Tony Horton:

lives life like this, womp, right?

Tony Horton:

There's ups and downs.

Tony Horton:

And, and, and that's

Tony Horton:

just part of, uh, part of

Tony Horton:

growth and transformation

Tony Horton:

and moving through life.

Tony Horton:

And so once I, once I realized

Tony Horton:

that, I took part of the

Tony Horton:

title of that, of his book

Tony Horton:

and I went do your best.

Tony Horton:

And for me, it was.

Tony Horton:

All the, the rest is all that

Tony Horton:

other stuff that slows you

Tony Horton:

down and prevents you from

Tony Horton:

being able to live the life

Tony Horton:

that you wanna live, right?

Tony Horton:

So if the rest is bad sleep

Tony Horton:

or the rest is I'm dehydrated,

Tony Horton:

the rest, I I've overtrained.

Tony Horton:

Or if the rest is just an argument

Tony Horton:

with somebody over the phone, over

Tony Horton:

something stupid, cause there's

Tony Horton:

all kinds of different things that

Tony Horton:

are occurring that are putting a

Tony Horton:

lot of pressure on us, you know,

Tony Horton:

physically, mentally, emotionally,

Tony Horton:

and spiritually, right?

Tony Horton:

And so there they are,

Tony Horton:

you gotta deal with them.

Tony Horton:

What's the, what's the job at hand?

Tony Horton:

Go in there and just show up, cause

Tony Horton:

you know, I talk about intensity

Tony Horton:

as well, but, you know, Crank Up

Tony Horton:

The Intensity is chapter six in

Tony Horton:

the book and you know, um, in,

Tony Horton:

uh, consistency is, is I think

Tony Horton:

more important than intensity.

Tony Horton:

Just be there.

Tony Horton:

Like what if you just have the

Tony Horton:

worst yoga session, you, you get

Tony Horton:

P 90 Xs an hour and a half and you

Tony Horton:

just lie in Shavasa for half of it.

Tony Horton:

So what?

Tony Horton:

So what, you know, just

Tony Horton:

leave yourself alone, be

Tony Horton:

there, do what you can.

Tony Horton:

And then as, as the minutes

Tony Horton:

progress, well, maybe you can

Tony Horton:

do a little bit more or maybe

Tony Horton:

you can't, so it's all okay.

Tony Horton:

It's all okay.

Tony Horton:

As long as you're not sitting

Tony Horton:

on the couch, you know, smoking

Tony Horton:

cigarettes, watching reruns of

Tony Horton:

island, I, I Love Lucy every day,

Tony Horton:

then, you know, you'll be okay.

Tony Horton:

Not that there's anything

Tony Horton:

wrong with smoking cigarettes.

Tony Horton:

No!

Tony Horton:

I'm kidding, about I Love Lucy

Tony Horton:

reruns, cause they're always funny.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

So just leave yourself alone

Tony Horton:

and, and, and, and show up.

Tony Horton:

Show up, that's it.

Mike Forrester:

Absolutely.

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Can we go back

Mike Forrester:

to, like, before you went out

Mike Forrester:

to, um, Southern California.

Mike Forrester:

Kind of like, as you were going

Mike Forrester:

through high school, some of the

Mike Forrester:

struggles that you were facing, uh,

Mike Forrester:

can you talk about some of that?

Mike Forrester:

Cause it's like, I think so often

Mike Forrester:

we as guys just look at it and

Mike Forrester:

go, I have these, these deficits

Mike Forrester:

or these hurdles that I'm facing

Mike Forrester:

and nobody else has this problem.

Mike Forrester:

And it's just like, so false.

Mike Forrester:

Can, can you share like what

Mike Forrester:

you were facing back then?

Tony Horton:

You know,

Tony Horton:

everybody's putting on their

Tony Horton:

best face, so whatever you think

Tony Horton:

you're seeing, probably isn't

Tony Horton:

true, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I mean, there's a lot of people

Tony Horton:

that put on a good show and

Tony Horton:

they walk around, they're

Tony Horton:

happy and they're wealthy and

Tony Horton:

they're successful and they're

Tony Horton:

skinny and they, whatever.

Tony Horton:

They have money in their pocket,

Tony Horton:

and all that kind of stuff.

Tony Horton:

But everybody, not everybody,

Tony Horton:

but a vast majority of people

Tony Horton:

are struggling with something,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And then you can only, you

Tony Horton:

can spend only, so many

Tony Horton:

nanoseconds on what you

Tony Horton:

think is going on with them.

Tony Horton:

And you're probably

Tony Horton:

wasting your time, even

Tony Horton:

with those few nanoseconds

Tony Horton:

you're spending on them.

Tony Horton:

So the job here is to sort

Tony Horton:

of, okay, well, make an

Tony Horton:

assessment of who you are,

Tony Horton:

where you are in the moment.

Tony Horton:

And for me, I didn't have

Tony Horton:

the skill set to be able to

Tony Horton:

deal with all the stuff I

Tony Horton:

was going through back then.

Tony Horton:

You know, I mean, I was not a

Tony Horton:

good student, I moved around five

Tony Horton:

or six times before sixth grade.

Tony Horton:

So there was always new teachers,

Tony Horton:

new neighbors, new kids at school.

Tony Horton:

And I had a speech impediment

Tony Horton:

that didn't help me any,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Because obviously whenever there's

Tony Horton:

a, a, a flaw or weakness in a

Tony Horton:

kid, you know, other kids, for

Tony Horton:

some reason, what's the genetics

Tony Horton:

behind that, like, oh yeah, let's

Tony Horton:

be, let's be really rotten to this

Tony Horton:

person who's already struggling.

Tony Horton:

Uh, you know, there's a couple,

Tony Horton:

uh, kids that come to the

Tony Horton:

rescue, you know, in those

Tony Horton:

moments, which probably means

Tony Horton:

they have really good parents.

Tony Horton:

Um, but whatever, you know,

Tony Horton:

a lot of people are dragging

Tony Horton:

their crap from home to school

Tony Horton:

and they see you and you're

Tony Horton:

vulnerable, and this is what,

Tony Horton:

this is what they're gonna do.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, I mean,

Tony Horton:

crap happens, you know?

Tony Horton:

And so, um, you know, I mean, I

Tony Horton:

barely got through high school.

Tony Horton:

I had to take a summer, summer

Tony Horton:

school to, to, to graduate barely.

Tony Horton:

And then I went off to URI,

Tony Horton:

the University of Rhode Island.

Tony Horton:

I didn't do it much better,

Tony Horton:

but you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I didn't get the, the speech thing

Tony Horton:

had been, um, diminished quite,

Tony Horton:

quite substantially by that point.

Tony Horton:

And I was, I was a communications

Tony Horton:

and a theater major probably

Tony Horton:

because I was forcing myself to,

Tony Horton:

to learn how to communicate better

Tony Horton:

and, and, and perform better.

Tony Horton:

And then, you know, whenever I

Tony Horton:

did these live, uh, live shows.

Tony Horton:

They were always pantemime,

Tony Horton:

with very little words.

Tony Horton:

I would, I would, you know, just

Tony Horton:

to throw a punchline in here and

Tony Horton:

there, but it was just these kind

Tony Horton:

of extravagant mime performances

Tony Horton:

because my speech thing wasn't

Tony Horton:

completely, uh, nailed down yet.

Tony Horton:

Um, but yeah, you know,

Tony Horton:

I mean, like, I, I, yeah.

Tony Horton:

And then people look at me

Tony Horton:

now, like, man, that kid

Tony Horton:

must have had everything

Tony Horton:

going for him his whole life.

Tony Horton:

Oh my God.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

We had alcoholism in the

Tony Horton:

family and we had rage in the

Tony Horton:

family and we had financial

Tony Horton:

issues in our family and, uh,

Tony Horton:

and, uh, you know, all of it.

Tony Horton:

It's a lot of, it's a lot of stress

Tony Horton:

for my sisters and my, myself.

Tony Horton:

I was the oldest and only boy.

Tony Horton:

So I didn't have sort of a, a

Tony Horton:

good mentor in the house, you

Tony Horton:

know, a good sibling in the

Tony Horton:

house, so I could kind of lean

Tony Horton:

on, I was, it was no such person.

Tony Horton:

So I had to use humor and, and

Tony Horton:

my small group of friends to

Tony Horton:

kind of, get some support from.

Tony Horton:

But, yeah.

Tony Horton:

I mean, you know, for some

Tony Horton:

kids it's elementary school

Tony Horton:

for some it's junior high, and

Tony Horton:

then they grow, they kinda make

Tony Horton:

their way through high school.

Tony Horton:

My elementary school, junior high

Tony Horton:

school, and good sec- good part

Tony Horton:

of my first and second year of

Tony Horton:

high school were pretty brutal.

Tony Horton:

And then, you know, then I,

Tony Horton:

I, you know, I learned a few

Tony Horton:

things to sort of reinvent

Tony Horton:

myself or at least to kind of

Tony Horton:

mask my flaws by my junior and

Tony Horton:

senior year of high school.

Tony Horton:

And then I remember having

Tony Horton:

a conversation with my

Tony Horton:

father's brother, my uncle,

Tony Horton:

and he said, Hey, you know,

Tony Horton:

you're going off to college.

Tony Horton:

Here's an opportunity where

Tony Horton:

nobody knows you there.

Tony Horton:

And this is where you come in,

Tony Horton:

really stealthy and really quiet.

Tony Horton:

You don't try to, you know, you

Tony Horton:

don't make any waves early on.

Tony Horton:

You wanna make an assessment.

Tony Horton:

You want to be able to be really

Tony Horton:

bright, make sure you find

Tony Horton:

certain, you know, find yourself

Tony Horton:

around the right kind of people

Tony Horton:

and just reinvent yourself.

Tony Horton:

I mean, it's all right.

Tony Horton:

Absolutely thoroughly.

Tony Horton:

Reinvent yourself.

Tony Horton:

So I was faking it

Tony Horton:

till I could make it.

Tony Horton:

And then all of a sudden I actually

Tony Horton:

started to become that person.

Tony Horton:

I was faking, you know, as I was

Tony Horton:

making my way through college.

Tony Horton:

And then I came out here to

Tony Horton:

California in 1980, still

Tony Horton:

six credit short at URI.

Tony Horton:

And again, another, another

Tony Horton:

chance to reinvent myself.

Tony Horton:

You know, and then, you

Tony Horton:

know, I'm a mime at the pier.

Tony Horton:

I'm at work, I'm the

Tony Horton:

assistant manager at the Oak

Tony Horton:

tree Men's Clothing store.

Tony Horton:

I'm, I'm a, I'm a frozen

Tony Horton:

mannequin in a, in a, in a

Tony Horton:

clothing store window, uh,

Tony Horton:

plumber or carpenter, handyman.

Tony Horton:

Um, you name it, man.

Tony Horton:

I was doing painting houses,

Tony Horton:

doing whatever I could

Tony Horton:

do to survive out here.

Tony Horton:

But it was, it was fun, man.

Tony Horton:

Cause I was in Cali, yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

And it seemed like then you

Mike Forrester:

found your rhythm as far as

Mike Forrester:

getting into fitness and really

Mike Forrester:

like learning from people.

Mike Forrester:

You, you became like a sponge

Mike Forrester:

from what I understand, just

Mike Forrester:

learning all you could about

Mike Forrester:

fitness and then teaching it.

Mike Forrester:

How did that come about?

Mike Forrester:

As far as, um, you know, finding

Mike Forrester:

a strength, like an area where

Mike Forrester:

you felt you, you were competent

Mike Forrester:

and could, could help others.

Mike Forrester:

How did that come about?

Tony Horton:

Mar- Mike,

Tony Horton:

you've done your research,

Tony Horton:

my friend, very nicely done.

Tony Horton:

Um, you know, when I came out here,

Tony Horton:

uh, again, I, you know, I came

Tony Horton:

out here with a couple of buddies

Tony Horton:

and so we were already pals.

Tony Horton:

And so we were pretty

Tony Horton:

tight knit group.

Tony Horton:

And then we would go to clubs

Tony Horton:

or I, you know, I'd go to a

Tony Horton:

gym once in a while, but I

Tony Horton:

wasn't a member of anything.

Tony Horton:

It was mostly just going to

Tony Horton:

clubs and, and going down to

Tony Horton:

the beach and playing volleyball

Tony Horton:

or whatever, you know, just

Tony Horton:

kind of meeting people that

Tony Horton:

seemed athletic and cruel.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, we were all,

Tony Horton:

we were all smoking weed

Tony Horton:

and drinking beers though.

Tony Horton:

I mean, that's just what we

Tony Horton:

were doing back in those days.

Tony Horton:

I mean, it was the early 80's.

Tony Horton:

Um, um, but we were all of

Tony Horton:

legal age, not for smoking

Tony Horton:

pot, but, but you know,

Tony Horton:

whatever , uh, that's what I

Tony Horton:

was used to back at U R High.

Tony Horton:

And, um, probably probably why

Tony Horton:

my, my grade point average,

Tony Horton:

and I don't even get high

Tony Horton:

anymore or drink or anything.

Tony Horton:

It just doesn't

Tony Horton:

doesn't serve me, so.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Tony Horton:

Um, you're

Tony Horton:

just kind of making your

Tony Horton:

way, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And, and exercise wasn't really

Tony Horton:

on the table, like going to a

Tony Horton:

gym and doing structural, like,

Tony Horton:

like sequential movements,

Tony Horton:

so you can get stronger

Tony Horton:

or get cardiovascularly

Tony Horton:

strong or something.

Tony Horton:

We would play hoop and we would

Tony Horton:

play tennis and we would play

Tony Horton:

Sandlot football and we would play

Tony Horton:

street hockey and, and volleyball

Tony Horton:

and all these different things.

Tony Horton:

It wasn't really, you know, and

Tony Horton:

then I wasn't very good at any

Tony Horton:

of 'em, but I didn't really care.

Tony Horton:

I was just hanging

Tony Horton:

out with my friends.

Tony Horton:

And then, um, I got, I was,

Tony Horton:

I wanted to be an actor.

Tony Horton:

And so I, I eventually

Tony Horton:

got an agent.

Tony Horton:

My agent was a little disappointed

Tony Horton:

in my physique and I took a

Tony Horton:

weightlifting class in college

Tony Horton:

and, and I, it was a great

Tony Horton:

experience for that one semester.

Tony Horton:

And I got in great shape and

Tony Horton:

my GPA went up that, that

Tony Horton:

semester, too, because I

Tony Horton:

was taking care of myself.

Tony Horton:

Um, and then after that semester,

Tony Horton:

you know, oh, whatever, you

Tony Horton:

know, a year and a half went

Tony Horton:

by and back in, in, uh, in LA.

Tony Horton:

And my agent just said, Hey, you

Tony Horton:

know, if you wanna work more, you

Tony Horton:

gotta kind of get a little trimmer

Tony Horton:

and get rid of some of that gut

Tony Horton:

and build some strength in your

Tony Horton:

arms and look a little bit better.

Tony Horton:

It's California, man.

Tony Horton:

And I took that

Tony Horton:

person so seriously.

Tony Horton:

And I, and I joined

Tony Horton:

a gym for $99 a year.

Tony Horton:

The Sports Connection on

Tony Horton:

Ocean, Ocean Park Boulevard,

Tony Horton:

in, in Santa Monica.

Tony Horton:

And I was amazed, man.

Tony Horton:

I walked into this building.

Tony Horton:

Three stories, like the size of

Tony Horton:

three football fields, stacked

Tony Horton:

on top of each other of just

Tony Horton:

equipment and people training

Tony Horton:

and, and aerobic classes.

Tony Horton:

What is, what is that?

Tony Horton:

I'm going in there!

Tony Horton:

That looks cool.

Tony Horton:

It's all women and I'm going

Tony Horton:

in, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And, uh, and so whatever,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And I was, I was a Gogo dancer

Tony Horton:

at Chippendales for a short

Tony Horton:

while, cuz I used to be a dancer.

Tony Horton:

I used to love the dancing,

Tony Horton:

you know, in clubs and stuff.

Tony Horton:

And, so I just took to

Tony Horton:

it like a fish to water.

Tony Horton:

And then, um, and then one

Tony Horton:

of the jobs that I finally

Tony Horton:

got when I got a real job, I

Tony Horton:

was a PA at 20th Century Fox,

Tony Horton:

um, a production assistant.

Tony Horton:

And my boss was a guy by

Tony Horton:

the name of Harlan Goodman.

Tony Horton:

And Harlan was in the music

Tony Horton:

industry before he was doing that.

Tony Horton:

He was working for this, with

Tony Horton:

this gal, uh, Julia Phillips.

Tony Horton:

And her, and her husband, John

Tony Horton:

Phillips, uh, prior to their

Tony Horton:

divorce, did Close Encounters

Tony Horton:

with the Third Kind; taxi driver.

Tony Horton:

And, and The Sting with Robert

Tony Horton:

Redford and Paul Newman.

Tony Horton:

So I was, I was on the lot and

Tony Horton:

I was going on auditions and

Tony Horton:

I was getting fit at the gym.

Tony Horton:

And, and, you know, when I first

Tony Horton:

started working for Julia and

Tony Horton:

Harlan, I didn't look that good.

Tony Horton:

And about three months

Tony Horton:

into it, Harlan's like,

Tony Horton:

man, what are you doing?

Tony Horton:

You, you look.

Tony Horton:

Something's going on with you.

Tony Horton:

You just, you could just

Tony Horton:

see it after a while.

Tony Horton:

Like, at first you don't notice

Tony Horton:

and all of a sudden they start

Tony Horton:

seeing this, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And this and I, and he said,

Tony Horton:

Hey, this job is so stressful.

Tony Horton:

Would you wanna train me?

Tony Horton:

Not certified, clueless.

Tony Horton:

I was just kind of copying people

Tony Horton:

in the gym, like, what's he doing?

Tony Horton:

What's she doing?

Tony Horton:

What's that?

Tony Horton:

Okay.

Tony Horton:

Squats, lunges, hack

Tony Horton:

squats, bicep curls, super

Tony Horton:

setting, pyramid setting.

Tony Horton:

Oh, just write all this stuff down.

Tony Horton:

And so I started training my boss

Tony Horton:

in my buddy's backyard garage.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, I had that job

Tony Horton:

for a while and it was kind of

Tony Horton:

a fun thing and I helped him

Tony Horton:

lose about, I think anywhere

Tony Horton:

between 35 and 45 pounds.

Tony Horton:

And unfortunately they had no

Tony Horton:

luck making movies and, and

Tony Horton:

the job was super stressful.

Tony Horton:

I mean, she was not

Tony Horton:

easy to work for, Julia.

Tony Horton:

She'd fire me every Friday and

Tony Horton:

he'd call me up on Sunday nights

Tony Horton:

and go, dude, you're not fired.

Tony Horton:

Just come in.

Tony Horton:

I was training him and I, and

Tony Horton:

then he was getting results.

Tony Horton:

And then friends of his were

Tony Horton:

asking me, how'd you do that?

Tony Horton:

So all of a sudden I had like

Tony Horton:

four or five clients, not enough

Tony Horton:

to sustain me, you know, because

Tony Horton:

I'd see them two, twice a week

Tony Horton:

or once a week, or maybe some

Tony Horton:

Harlan and maybe one or two

Tony Horton:

others at three times a week.

Tony Horton:

Still doing carpentry, still

Tony Horton:

doing odd, still waiting

Tony Horton:

tables, still, still a bartender

Tony Horton:

or whatever I could do.

Tony Horton:

And so he went back

Tony Horton:

to making music.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, he worked at East

Tony Horton:

End Management on Sunset

Tony Horton:

Boulevard in Hollywood.

Tony Horton:

Hollywood.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, he was walking down the

Tony Horton:

hallway in the other direction.

Tony Horton:

There's Tom Petty, he's got a

Tony Horton:

cigarette and he says, "Oh my

Tony Horton:

God, Har, you look fantastic.

Tony Horton:

I mean, I've never

Tony Horton:

seen you so thin.

Tony Horton:

What did you do?"

Tony Horton:

"Well, I'm working out with this

Tony Horton:

guy, Tony Hor-" "Tony Horton?

Tony Horton:

Who's Tony Horton?"

Tony Horton:

And he says, "Well,

Tony Horton:

he's, my trainer.

Tony Horton:

He used to work with me and Julia

Tony Horton:

back in the day, but now he's

Tony Horton:

kind of training and doing..."

Tony Horton:

"Well, can you gimme

Tony Horton:

his phone number?"

Tony Horton:

And so Harlan didn't tell

Tony Horton:

me that he was giving Tom

Tony Horton:

Petty my phone number.

Tony Horton:

So the phone rings, I write

Tony Horton:

about it in the book and, um,

Tony Horton:

my roommate, Bob picks it up.

Tony Horton:

"Hi, my name is Tom Petty.

Tony Horton:

I'm looking for Tony Horton."

Tony Horton:

So we had a couple of

Tony Horton:

practical jokers that

Tony Horton:

lived downstairs below us.

Tony Horton:

This guy, John, Jim, and Bob

Tony Horton:

goes, "Dude, I think it's Jim

Tony Horton:

downstairs saying it's Tom Petty."

Tony Horton:

I go "hang up the phone."

Tony Horton:

So Bob hangs up on Tom Petty.

Tony Horton:

Phone rings a couple minutes later.

Tony Horton:

"We got disconnected."

Tony Horton:

And then Bob goes, "dude, this

Tony Horton:

is the best impression ever.

Tony Horton:

Or it's actually Tom Petty."

Tony Horton:

I go, "gimme the phone.

Tony Horton:

Hello?"

Tony Horton:

"Hi, it's Tom Petty."

Tony Horton:

"It's Tom Petty."

Tony Horton:

You know, so this is crazy.

Tony Horton:

It Harlan goes, "yeah.

Tony Horton:

I forgot to tell you that

Tony Horton:

Tom's gonna call you."

Tony Horton:

I went to his house like

Tony Horton:

the next day or two.

Tony Horton:

And, you know, he lived in,

Tony Horton:

he lived in Woodland Hills.

Tony Horton:

Big gate, bunch of trees,

Tony Horton:

long driveway, walk in

Tony Horton:

glass top to floor, golden

Tony Horton:

platinum records on the wall.

Tony Horton:

Tom's there, puts a cigarette

Tony Horton:

out, "Hey, you know, I'm going

Tony Horton:

on tour and I'm, and I'm fat.

Tony Horton:

Nobody likes a fat rocker."

Tony Horton:

You know, that's my Tom

Tony Horton:

Petty, it's not good.

Tony Horton:

Uh, but it's the best I can do.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, so I had him for four

Tony Horton:

months and I got him a heavy bag,

Tony Horton:

an elliptical, not elliptical,

Tony Horton:

but a, but a stationary bike.

Tony Horton:

Bench press, dumbbells.

Tony Horton:

And we did pushups and all of it.

Tony Horton:

And you know, he didn't

Tony Horton:

need to lose weight.

Tony Horton:

He just needed to

Tony Horton:

redistribute, right?

Tony Horton:

We had to burn off the fat,

Tony Horton:

get his, get his, his lungs

Tony Horton:

and his internal organs,

Tony Horton:

heart working better.

Tony Horton:

And he went off on that tour, man.

Tony Horton:

And everybody was like,

Tony Horton:

what happened to Tom Petty?

Tony Horton:

Like he was, he showed up

Tony Horton:

with like, vests with no

Tony Horton:

sleeves, stuff like that.

Tony Horton:

Tom Petty has arm?

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Tank tops, ya know, like with

Tony Horton:

Quiet Riot on his shirts.

Tony Horton:

He was wearing cut off's,

Tony Horton:

he'd cut off the sleeves cause

Tony Horton:

he was so proud of his arms.

Tony Horton:

And um, it was just crazy.

Tony Horton:

And then the phone

Tony Horton:

just rang off the hook.

Tony Horton:

Then Billy Idol called,

Tony Horton:

"Bloody oh mate, fantastic.

Tony Horton:

What you do to Petty man.

Tony Horton:

Can you go to my house?"

Tony Horton:

So yeah, Tom lived way, way in Wood

Tony Horton:

in the valley, and Billy lived way

Tony Horton:

up in Hollywood Hills, but there

Tony Horton:

was a period there where, you know,

Tony Horton:

I, my Monday, Wednesday, Friday,

Tony Horton:

when Bruce was in town that Bruce

Tony Horton:

that's what I'm talking about.

Tony Horton:

It was Billy Idle, Tom Petty,

Tony Horton:

Annie Lennox from the Eurythmics.

Tony Horton:

Um, Bruce Springsteen,

Tony Horton:

Steven Stills from Crosby,

Tony Horton:

Stills, Nash & Young.

Tony Horton:

Plus Sean Connery, Shirley

Tony Horton:

McLean, Bryce Dallas Howard.

Tony Horton:

Um, Joey Fatone,

Tony Horton:

um, Octavia Spencer.

Tony Horton:

Um, Stevie Nicks, Lindsay

Tony Horton:

Buckingham, um, Jason Scheff

Tony Horton:

from Chicago, you know.

Tony Horton:

It was, I kept rock and roll

Tony Horton:

from the sixties to seventies

Tony Horton:

alive, there for a while.

Tony Horton:

You're welcome.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

So it was cool.

Tony Horton:

But I still had a, I still lived

Tony Horton:

in a crappy little apartment

Tony Horton:

with a broken down car.

Tony Horton:

And I had to buy another car

Tony Horton:

because one car was in the shop

Tony Horton:

and I had to drive the other

Tony Horton:

car and, you know, you're just

Tony Horton:

going and you're bing-bonging.

Tony Horton:

Ping pong, bonging all over

Tony Horton:

the city trying to train

Tony Horton:

one, one after another.

Tony Horton:

And I was, I wasn't

Tony Horton:

making that much money.

Tony Horton:

I mean, more than I was as

Tony Horton:

a, as a handyman, but, uh, it

Tony Horton:

seemed cool, but I was still

Tony Horton:

broke, you know, in those days.

Mike Forrester:

So how did you,

Mike Forrester:

how did you get from that point?

Mike Forrester:

And you've also talked about, you

Mike Forrester:

know, like the, the alcoholism

Mike Forrester:

and, and anger and everything else.

Mike Forrester:

How did you set yourself up

Mike Forrester:

mentally to transition from

Mike Forrester:

what you had experienced?

Mike Forrester:

Now you're changing physically

Mike Forrester:

and you're seeing people, you

Mike Forrester:

know, transform their bodies,

Mike Forrester:

but then you, you, you're going

Mike Forrester:

through like a mental shift,

Mike Forrester:

like mental, emotional, like

Mike Forrester:

mindset, everything like that.

Mike Forrester:

How did you, how did that

Mike Forrester:

come about for you man?

Tony Horton:

Well, you know, the

Tony Horton:

reading and writing and arithmetic

Tony Horton:

wasn't enough for me in school.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I mean, most people go through

Tony Horton:

this pattern and they get this

Tony Horton:

job and they have, they get

Tony Horton:

married and they have kids.

Tony Horton:

And then, you know, it's very

Tony Horton:

rare that that all, that's

Tony Horton:

an uphill thing, you know.

Tony Horton:

I just, I just physically moved

Tony Horton:

3,000 miles across the country to

Tony Horton:

a completely different culture.

Tony Horton:

So Connecticut, Rhode Island, New

Tony Horton:

Jersey, Mass, there's a certain

Tony Horton:

sort of a, there's a vibe there.

Tony Horton:

Not, not saying it's a bad

Tony Horton:

vibe, it's just sort of this

Tony Horton:

thing that didn't work for me.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

A lot of people who've come,

Tony Horton:

who started off on the east

Tony Horton:

coast, go west young man to

Tony Horton:

find their fame fortune and go

Tony Horton:

I don't like this bunch of crazy

Tony Horton:

plastic people in California.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Like whatever, some things

Tony Horton:

work, some things don't work.

Tony Horton:

I, I fell into my groove the, the

Tony Horton:

day I arrived here, man, I just.

Tony Horton:

And just a different

Tony Horton:

perspective, different

Tony Horton:

people, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And a lot, lot of times when

Tony Horton:

you're, when you're, you

Tony Horton:

know, and look, it wasn't all

Tony Horton:

hell when I was growing up.

Tony Horton:

My parents busted their butt

Tony Horton:

for me and my sisters to give

Tony Horton:

us a tremendous lifestyle.

Tony Horton:

They were two young kids

Tony Horton:

who got married, who weren't

Tony Horton:

married, maybe, you know,

Tony Horton:

who ha, who, whatever they

Tony Horton:

had their, their issues.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And I think they did the best

Tony Horton:

they could based on who they

Tony Horton:

were and who their parents were.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

But I just felt like

Tony Horton:

there was more to life.

Tony Horton:

And so the move was a big change.

Tony Horton:

The personal development

Tony Horton:

work was a big change.

Tony Horton:

Surrounding myself with

Tony Horton:

the right kind of people

Tony Horton:

was, was really important.

Tony Horton:

Really upbeat, constructive,

Tony Horton:

happy, funny people, right?

Tony Horton:

Was just who I was drawn to.

Tony Horton:

And I, you know, I'm genetically

Tony Horton:

made up of, you know, centuries

Tony Horton:

of cells from the past that makes

Tony Horton:

this guy, you know, and this

Tony Horton:

guy, I was always a glass is half

Tony Horton:

full guy, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And, uh, I had my moments of,

Tony Horton:

of great depression and sadness

Tony Horton:

and, and, and concern about

Tony Horton:

where I was going in my life.

Tony Horton:

So all those things mattered,

Tony Horton:

you know, and, and, um, and

Tony Horton:

you, I mean, I was a, I

Tony Horton:

was a reader and, and, uh,

Tony Horton:

cause I didn't get anything

Tony Horton:

I needed to get from school.

Tony Horton:

And, so, a lot of that

Tony Horton:

was just stuff I started

Tony Horton:

applying to my life.

Tony Horton:

It wasn't easy at first, but

Tony Horton:

it's, I thought to myself, well,

Tony Horton:

here's a pretty smart person

Tony Horton:

that's written a pretty nice book

Tony Horton:

and it's pretty popular and maybe

Tony Horton:

I should just do what they're

Tony Horton:

talking about in their book.

Tony Horton:

And I did, quite

Tony Horton:

often, I really did.

Tony Horton:

And I worked on my speech

Tony Horton:

issues just by increasing my

Tony Horton:

vocabulary, so I would no longer

Tony Horton:

continue to be a Malaprop.

Tony Horton:

Uh, there you go.

Tony Horton:

There's a word.

Tony Horton:

And, um, and that helped,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

It helped me disseminate, uh,

Tony Horton:

what I needed to disseminate

Tony Horton:

so that I could express myself

Tony Horton:

in such a way, so I could have

Tony Horton:

an impact on other people.

Tony Horton:

And I did that also because

Tony Horton:

I got on stage and I did

Tony Horton:

standup comedy for two years.

Tony Horton:

I was part of Second City LA

Tony Horton:

when it was here, very briefly.

Tony Horton:

And I was, I had, uh, scene

Tony Horton:

study classes with Brian

Tony Horton:

Reese and, and, uh, Darrell

Tony Horton:

Hickman and Ivor Francis.

Tony Horton:

And I, you know, I was just

Tony Horton:

immersed in surrounding myself

Tony Horton:

with new people, new concepts,

Tony Horton:

new ways to communicate via

Tony Horton:

acting or via comedy or via

Tony Horton:

improvisation or whatever it was.

Tony Horton:

And so, uh, I just did what

Tony Horton:

I wanted to do and every once

Tony Horton:

in a while I would do odd

Tony Horton:

jobs so I could pay my rent

Tony Horton:

and get some gas in my car,

Tony Horton:

um, and live hand to mouth.

Tony Horton:

And then, and off of credit cards.

Tony Horton:

I, you know, I got a credit

Tony Horton:

card and then I, yeah, and I got

Tony Horton:

another credit card to pay off that

Tony Horton:

credit card and that kept going.

Tony Horton:

And before you know it, I had

Tony Horton:

eight or nine credit cards.

Tony Horton:

And then I, then Power 90 hit

Tony Horton:

and I could pay 'em all off in

Tony Horton:

one big chunk, which was, you

Tony Horton:

know, *gasp* very lucky to do.

Mike Forrester:

The sigh of relief.

Tony Horton:

Mmh, it was crazy.

Mike Forrester:

Well, hey,

Mike Forrester:

in, in the, the time we've got

Mike Forrester:

left, man, I there's so much

Mike Forrester:

more, I would love to dive into.

Mike Forrester:

Um, in 2017, you ended up

Mike Forrester:

having, um, Ramsey Hunt Syndrome.

Mike Forrester:

And I can't even fathom, like,

Mike Forrester:

I mean, I've, I've got Tinnitus,

Mike Forrester:

um, I can't imagine what you

Mike Forrester:

were going through with that.

Mike Forrester:

Can you explain, like, what it

Mike Forrester:

is and how it came about for you?

Mike Forrester:

Cause like, dude, you did like an

Mike Forrester:

absolute change in your, in your

Mike Forrester:

self, like healing yourself from

Mike Forrester:

something that's so debilitating.

Mike Forrester:

To me it's just so amazing.

Tony Horton:

Well, if you

Tony Horton:

had chickenpox as a kid,

Tony Horton:

then the, uh, the shingles

Tony Horton:

virus lives inside of you.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, you know, that thing

Tony Horton:

that we call stress, I mean,

Tony Horton:

we're under stress all the time.

Tony Horton:

The minute you walk outside, the

Tony Horton:

sun is creating a certain amount

Tony Horton:

of stress on your skin, right?

Tony Horton:

The minute you raise your

Tony Horton:

voice, there's stress, right?

Tony Horton:

That it forces your adrenal

Tony Horton:

glands and your, and your

Tony Horton:

cortisol levels to kind of go up.

Tony Horton:

If you're exercising,

Tony Horton:

there's stress.

Tony Horton:

If you're, you know, thinking and

Tony Horton:

trying to write an important note

Tony Horton:

or something, there's stress.

Tony Horton:

And I just, I, that was all

Tony Horton:

stuff that I could deal with

Tony Horton:

cause I had exercise and cardio.

Tony Horton:

I wasn't really meditating

Tony Horton:

back then, not really.

Tony Horton:

I would once in a while just

Tony Horton:

to say I did, but I was,

Tony Horton:

um, Tom Petty died the day

Tony Horton:

after the Vegas shooting.

Tony Horton:

So, I had friends that were at

Tony Horton:

the Vegas shooting and I was so

Tony Horton:

thoroughly appalled in hearing

Tony Horton:

the story of my friends running

Tony Horton:

for their lives as people are

Tony Horton:

getting picked off next to them.

Tony Horton:

I just thought to myself, this

Tony Horton:

is happening in this country.

Tony Horton:

Like what is going on?

Tony Horton:

And then Tom dies the next day.

Tony Horton:

And that whole two weeks that

Tony Horton:

this was happening, I was in

Tony Horton:

renegotiation with Beach Body.

Tony Horton:

And I'm sitting there in these

Tony Horton:

negotiations going, oh my God,

Tony Horton:

20 years with this company and

Tony Horton:

this is what they wanna pay me?

Tony Horton:

You wanna pay me less now?

Tony Horton:

After s- Are you?

Tony Horton:

I mean, I was just like, I

Tony Horton:

just, I, I couldn't believe it.

Tony Horton:

I just couldn't believe it.

Tony Horton:

And all that was happening and I

Tony Horton:

didn't know how to deal with it.

Tony Horton:

And so, I had a weird little,

Tony Horton:

I had a weird little headache.

Tony Horton:

I had a headache on the

Tony Horton:

right side of my head.

Tony Horton:

And then I was at a dinner

Tony Horton:

party, and there was this

Tony Horton:

incredible itching and pain.

Tony Horton:

You know, like this felt raw,

Tony Horton:

and it was pretty far in, so

Tony Horton:

I didn't notice it right away.

Tony Horton:

And the shingles were emerging

Tony Horton:

from all that stress in my ear.

Tony Horton:

Now, you can get shingles across

Tony Horton:

your back, across your chest and

Tony Horton:

your thigh, around your waist,

Tony Horton:

you know, I mean, along your butt,

Tony Horton:

there's a lot, but the very, very,

Tony Horton:

very, very last place you wanted

Tony Horton:

is in your brain, cause that

Tony Horton:

affects your sight, your smell,

Tony Horton:

your taste, your balance, right?

Tony Horton:

And the tinnitus was, uh,

Tony Horton:

or tinnitus, or whatever

Tony Horton:

you wanna call it, was a 12.

Tony Horton:

It was like three stage bee,

Tony Horton:

bee, boo, bee, bee, boo.

Tony Horton:

All the time, all the time, 24/7.

Tony Horton:

Go to sleep like that.

Tony Horton:

Like, just insane.

Tony Horton:

And my balance was

Tony Horton:

like, it wasn't vertigo.

Tony Horton:

It wasn't, this, it was this.

Tony Horton:

It felt like I was on, there

Tony Horton:

was an earthquake, all the time.

Tony Horton:

I was on like trying to

Tony Horton:

walk in an earthquake.

Tony Horton:

Couldn't taste anything,

Tony Horton:

everything tasted like nothing.

Tony Horton:

And all I could smell

Tony Horton:

was secondhand smoke.

Tony Horton:

That was, there was no smoke,

Tony Horton:

but that's all I could smell.

Tony Horton:

Exhausted.

Tony Horton:

Couldn't eat, couldn't drink,

Tony Horton:

couldn't drive, couldn't work

Tony Horton:

out, couldn't get outta bed.

Tony Horton:

And I was in excruciating

Tony Horton:

pain and every time I, I

Tony Horton:

stood up, I couldn't stand up.

Tony Horton:

And then I would vomit.

Tony Horton:

And this went on for weeks and

Tony Horton:

weeks and weeks and months,

Tony Horton:

and months, and months and all

Tony Horton:

the King's horses and all the

Tony Horton:

Kings men didn't know how to

Tony Horton:

put me back together again.

Tony Horton:

And they just said, Hey,

Tony Horton:

you know, it's gonna go away

Tony Horton:

eventually and we don't know

Tony Horton:

how, and then I got Bell's palsy.

Tony Horton:

So this whole side of my face

Tony Horton:

was like a Spielberg movie with

Tony Horton:

the Nazis, that "I am melting".

Tony Horton:

And so I, I couldn't this, this,

Tony Horton:

and I couldn't close this eye.

Tony Horton:

And this was, oh, I'm,

Tony Horton:

I'm a fitness trainer,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

And a lot of people, just a lot of

Tony Horton:

people get this and it's permanent.

Tony Horton:

Their balance is crap forever.

Tony Horton:

Their taste, sense

Tony Horton:

of taste is crap.

Tony Horton:

They cannot.

Tony Horton:

So, and I'm hearing from,

Tony Horton:

you know, Hey man, it's

Tony Horton:

just, you know, be lucky.

Tony Horton:

You're alive, you got

Tony Horton:

two limb and two legs.

Tony Horton:

And it's like, man.

Tony Horton:

So, when I, when there was micro

Tony Horton:

window for me to physically

Tony Horton:

do something or to try to get

Tony Horton:

some nutrition in me, I did.

Tony Horton:

And sometimes, I would walk in

Tony Horton:

the treadmill for four minutes.

Tony Horton:

I mean, one leg, and I'd

Tony Horton:

get off and I would sit down

Tony Horton:

for two hours and then I

Tony Horton:

would get up and throw up.

Tony Horton:

It, man, it was frigging brutal.

Tony Horton:

But, I know what brung me and that

Tony Horton:

was just taking care of myself.

Tony Horton:

And so, you know, every time I

Tony Horton:

could a little bit more, a little

Tony Horton:

bit more exercise, a little bit

Tony Horton:

more food would get into me.

Tony Horton:

And then I met with the

Tony Horton:

folks at Golden Hippo and I

Tony Horton:

said, "Hey man, what, what

Tony Horton:

can you, what can cut you?

Tony Horton:

Can you?

Tony Horton:

English.

Tony Horton:

There was a little bit of

Tony Horton:

that, that speech impediment.

Tony Horton:

There it was, came back to

Tony Horton:

haunt me, ah, used to panic.

Tony Horton:

Now, I just make fun of it.

Tony Horton:

Um, they came up with a, you

Tony Horton:

know, a concoction that worked

Tony Horton:

for me, the plant-based pro uh,

Tony Horton:

protein and the whey protein and

Tony Horton:

something called Foundation Four.

Tony Horton:

That's basically healed

Tony Horton:

my, my gut health.

Tony Horton:

And then I just started

Tony Horton:

reading Jon Kabat-Zinn's book,

Tony Horton:

Full Catastrophic Living.

Tony Horton:

That's Jon Kabat-Zinn's book,

Tony Horton:

Full Catastrophic Living.

Tony Horton:

Where are you, dude?

Tony Horton:

Are you here?

Tony Horton:

Oh, it's usually back here because

Tony Horton:

I always keep, ah, here it is.

Tony Horton:

It's even closer than I thought.

Tony Horton:

Look at that.

Tony Horton:

Look at that monster.

Tony Horton:

And as you could tell...

Mike Forrester:

I think you just

Mike Forrester:

gave me some homework there, Tony.

Mike Forrester:

Wow.

Tony Horton:

Look at me.

Tony Horton:

Look at me.

Tony Horton:

I was, this book

Tony Horton:

saved my butt, man.

Tony Horton:

Here, look at that.

Tony Horton:

I got going on there and

Tony Horton:

I would just read some of

Tony Horton:

these passages and I'd go.

Tony Horton:

Yeah, you're gonna be alright, man.

Tony Horton:

And so you know, about a year

Tony Horton:

later I was normalish, but now

Tony Horton:

I, I still have something called

Tony Horton:

Bilateral vestibular hypofunction.

Tony Horton:

Which is something that

Tony Horton:

some people will, will have.

Tony Horton:

They don't have Ramsey Hunt

Tony Horton:

forever because that will go

Tony Horton:

away eventually, especially

Tony Horton:

with meds and stuff.

Tony Horton:

But they do have that balance

Tony Horton:

issue, which like today, when

Tony Horton:

I was on the set, I noticed it

Tony Horton:

kicking in because I was reading

Tony Horton:

this teleprompter over and over

Tony Horton:

and over and over be trying to

Tony Horton:

get all the words just right.

Tony Horton:

And the words start to mirror and

Tony Horton:

I could feel my, uh, my stress

Tony Horton:

rise up cause I wasn't getting it.

Tony Horton:

And then the Rams- the,

Tony Horton:

uh, bilateral vestibular

Tony Horton:

hypofunction kicks in.

Tony Horton:

And for a lot of people, that's

Tony Horton:

permanent, you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Um, and I'm very lucky that my

Tony Horton:

lifestyle, my healthy lifestyle

Tony Horton:

has allowed me to make a 99.4%

Tony Horton:

recovery, which is good enough.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

I mean, you know, I'm 64.

Tony Horton:

What the heck do I, what do I want?

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

Other parts of my life, like

Tony Horton:

the mindfulness part, learning

Tony Horton:

how to relax, learning how to

Tony Horton:

be in the moment, just enjoying

Tony Horton:

my life more and spending more

Tony Horton:

time with my dogs and my wife.

Tony Horton:

That is all a result

Tony Horton:

of what I went through.

Tony Horton:

When you go through hell,

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

You can take that moment

Tony Horton:

and you can do the woe is me

Tony Horton:

routine, or you can try to see

Tony Horton:

the sunny side of Philly and,

Tony Horton:

um, and make the best of it.

Tony Horton:

And so I'm, I'm a different guy.

Tony Horton:

I mean, I'm still pumped up

Tony Horton:

and giddy up and let's go and

Tony Horton:

push hard and fly through the

Tony Horton:

ninja course, but I'm also, mm.

Tony Horton:

I'm that guy too.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

You've got, you're intentional

Mike Forrester:

about what you're doing.

Mike Forrester:

I mean, that shows in your

Mike Forrester:

diet and what you're doing,

Mike Forrester:

your activities and thinking.

Mike Forrester:

And I mean, to see the

Mike Forrester:

transformation from, from the

Mike Forrester:

picture that would, you know,

Mike Forrester:

like you've shared, when, you

Mike Forrester:

know, you were diagnosed with

Mike Forrester:

that, to where you're at now,

Mike Forrester:

it's like, can't even see that.

Mike Forrester:

I mean, it's just amazing.

Tony Horton:

I wanna

Tony Horton:

be happy, Mike.

Mike Forrester:

Yes.

Tony Horton:

I like being happy.

Tony Horton:

I like being joyous,

Tony Horton:

I like to laugh.

Tony Horton:

And I wanna do that ear- I

Tony Horton:

wanna do that later in my life.

Tony Horton:

But what happens to most people in

Tony Horton:

their forties, fifties, sixties,

Tony Horton:

and seventies, they start getting

Tony Horton:

early onset curmudgeon disorder.

Tony Horton:

Oh, you don't want that, man.

Tony Horton:

And then what happens to early

Tony Horton:

onset curmudgeon disorder?

Tony Horton:

It becomes chronic.

Tony Horton:

Curmudgeon disorder.

Tony Horton:

And then what leads to that?

Tony Horton:

It's terminal curmudgeon disorder

Tony Horton:

and it's "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

Tony Horton:

you know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

You're just screaming at

Tony Horton:

the world like a maniac.

Mike Forrester:

Was I not

Mike Forrester:

supposed to do that earlier today?

Mike Forrester:

Come on, Tony.

Mike Forrester:

I mean, I get, I get great joy

Mike Forrester:

from yelling "get off my lawn."

Tony Horton:

Yeah.

Tony Horton:

It just, it's just like, it just,

Tony Horton:

it's just an aging accelerant, man.

Tony Horton:

It just is.

Tony Horton:

So, you know, you gotta, you

Tony Horton:

gotta live and let live, you

Tony Horton:

know, a little bit, unless

Tony Horton:

somebody's impeding on, on

Tony Horton:

the quality of your life.

Tony Horton:

Then that's, that's

Tony Horton:

a different story.

Tony Horton:

You know what I mean?

Tony Horton:

So that's just, I like, I look

Tony Horton:

outside and I see like somebody,

Tony Horton:

their dogs crapped on my yard.

Tony Horton:

I go, "hmmm, I can go out there

Tony Horton:

and make a big stink about

Tony Horton:

that, but I dunno, not gonna."

Mike Forrester:

Not

Mike Forrester:

worth the energy.

Tony Horton:

No, sir.

Mike Forrester:

No, well, Tony,

Mike Forrester:

thank you so much for sharing, like

Mike Forrester:

where you've come from, what you've

Mike Forrester:

gone through and, and the core

Mike Forrester:

of how you're being intentional

Mike Forrester:

to change things, because it's

Mike Forrester:

like, man, just like you, I've

Mike Forrester:

got an opportunity in, in, you

Mike Forrester:

know, the life circumstances

Mike Forrester:

around me to see what I don't want

Mike Forrester:

when I, you know, continue aging.

Mike Forrester:

And then deciding,

Mike Forrester:

"Hey, what do I want?"

Mike Forrester:

And then working to reclaim that.

Mike Forrester:

So Tony, I appreciate it.

Mike Forrester:

You being, you know, where you're

Mike Forrester:

at, what you're doing and, and just

Mike Forrester:

drawing from your experiences and

Mike Forrester:

knowledge and sharing that today.

Mike Forrester:

How can people reach out to you

Mike Forrester:

outside of, uh, the podcast here?

Tony Horton:

Uh, first of all,

Tony Horton:

thank you, Mike, for having

Tony Horton:

me on great questions, man.

Tony Horton:

I like when I get on, I've

Tony Horton:

been on 595,000 podcasts and

Tony Horton:

it's nice when I feel that

Tony Horton:

something a little bit different.

Tony Horton:

I appreciate what you did today.

Tony Horton:

Um, you know, my purpose is to

Tony Horton:

help other people find theirs.

Tony Horton:

So, you know, if you wanna find me

Tony Horton:

and look around, um, you can go to,

Tony Horton:

uh, uh, Power Nation Fitness.org,

Tony Horton:

that's Power Nation Fitness.org.

Tony Horton:

You can get in their seven

Tony Horton:

day free trial, check out

Tony Horton:

the brand new program.

Tony Horton:

People have done P 90 X, 85 times.

Tony Horton:

I don't know how they can

Tony Horton:

look at the same jokes and

Tony Horton:

moves over and over again.

Tony Horton:

Cause it works, I guess.

Tony Horton:

But there's a brand

Tony Horton:

new program, 25 Moves.

Tony Horton:

There's uh, live workouts,

Tony Horton:

mastermind, it's really

Tony Horton:

pretty groovy thing that we

Tony Horton:

spent two betas trying to

Tony Horton:

create during the pandemic.

Tony Horton:

So, um, Power Nation

Tony Horton:

Fitness.org to check that out.

Tony Horton:

And if you just wanna find

Tony Horton:

out where I am and what I'm

Tony Horton:

doing, and what's the latest

Tony Horton:

and the greatest, and you buy

Tony Horton:

some Tony Horton t-shirts, you

Tony Horton:

go to Tony Horton Life.com.

Tony Horton:

The other one is

Tony Horton:

org, this one is com.

Tony Horton:

Tony Horton life.com.

Tony Horton:

And, uh, and that's how

Tony Horton:

you get ahold of me there.

Tony Horton:

So, and then on there, you

Tony Horton:

can see where all my Twitter

Tony Horton:

and Facebook and Instagram

Tony Horton:

stuff is, on my main platform.

Tony Horton:

Uh, we just had an event here

Tony Horton:

at the house, uh, we're gonna

Tony Horton:

have a big ski event that we

Tony Horton:

do every year in Jackson Hole.

Tony Horton:

So if you're a ski or a

Tony Horton:

snowboarder, we do a little bit

Tony Horton:

of yoga in the morning, we ski

Tony Horton:

and snowboard all day, and then

Tony Horton:

we do a little bit at the end of

Tony Horton:

the day, then we eat and laugh.

Tony Horton:

And it's fun, we tell stories.

About the Podcast

Living Fearless Today
Helping men live fully alive, boldly and courageously
Do you feel overwhelmed when making decisions? Struggle to take action in your personal life or career? Think you're alone in these situations? You're not! In fact, you're in good company.

I'm Mike Forrester, host of the Living Fearless Today podcast. Join me as I interview other men who triumphed over their own adversities, learn how they did it and where they are today. So that whatever you're facing, know others fought the same battle and have conquered those challenges. They are now encouraging you and me to live our life boldly and courageously alongside them.

Let's disprove the lie that we're the only one who's going through this situation, that no one knows what it's like. You're not alone in the struggle you're working through. As men, we have more in common in our journey than you might want to believe.

Join me here each Tuesday for the interview and then again on Friday as I spotlight the lessons learned. How we can apply them to become the confident and courageous man we're wanting to be - for ourselves, our wife and our children.

Be sure to give a follow to the Living Fearless Today podcast on your favorite platform. I look forward to being with you during the next episode.
